Fishion

Here you will find my vision on fishing, or fishion as I tend to call it. It mainly concerns my vision of how to deal with fish and nature, waste, safety and desired behavior on board my boat.

Being a Part of Nature

I don’t like that fashionable word “sustainability” that one can see on so many websites. But that doesn’t mean that I think we cannot do something for the future generations. Use of nature or better being a part of it means that we have a certain responsibility. And that is taking care of nature and doing the best to preserve this. Therefore I have some rules to live by when fishing and I would appreciate it if you would take care of the same principles.

Handeling fish

We give the fish our utmost respect. That means we touch the fish with wet hands and release the fish as quickly as possible. Especially in hot summers with rising water temperatures. Because to unhook fish requires certain skills I prefer to do it myself. That doesn’t mean that I’m not willing to teach how to do this.

Harvesting a fish or two is not a problem. Perch are very tasteful fish and easy to bake, stew or smoke. The big perch and pike should always be released. Those are the strongest of the lake and should reproduce to get a healthy fish stock.

Handeling garbage

As fishermen we regularly produce waste. This can be in the form of consumer waste (plastic bags, plastic bottles or cans) but also waste from our fishing materials. Think of pieces of fishing line, rubber bait bitten in half, broken swivels, etc. Of course everything goes back home with us. If you have any trash, give it to me and I will take care of the disposal. Nothing will be thrown overboard!

Alcohol and drugs

I will not allow drugs in any form on board. For adults one can of beer is allowed. This may sound childish to you but you are my responsibility and I don’t want to see somebody get hurt because that person loses his balance and falls down in the boat or worse.

Safety

Your safety is a big part of my responsibility. On board are a fire extinguisher, a safety kit and safety blankets for emergency situations. Of course there are life jackets on board. Children under 12 years old have to wear them.

I registered with a special 112 app so that we can be traced quickly in the event of an emergency.

Disclaimer

Before we go on the water, I will hand you a form that is best to read first but in any case you have to sign. The content has everything to do with behavior on board and safety. The customer is king, but of course I remain the boss on board.
