Fishing
Possibilities
The fishing will take place on one of the lakes that lie roughly in the triangle formed by the towns of Älvdalen, Sälen and Särna. The lakes are located near the villages of Sörsjön, Nornäs and Lövnäs. Those lakes are sufficiently rich in fish and harbor large pike, decent size perch and ides. If you want to experience a nice day and learn various fishing techniques with a good chance of getting enough fish, then you have come to the right place.
The following options are possible:
- guided trip with the boat: half a day fishing (4 hours) for 1 – 2 persons
- guided trip with the boat: a full day of fishing (8 hours) for 1 – 2 persons
- guided trip with a bellyboat: half a day fishing (4 hours) for just 1 person
- guided trip along the banks of the lakes or rivers (4 hours) for 1 – 2 persons
For who
This day out is for everyone from the age of 7 (up to 12 years with supervision). Even people with disabilities are welcome, although we have to determine in advance what is or is not possible. The lakes differ a lot from one another, have lots of little islands and bays and therefore they are challenging enough for the advanced fisherman. My strength lies mainly in introducing and guiding beginners in fishing. But my experience is that most people can still learn a lot.
For individuals it is also possible for a guided tour with a belly boat for half a day. I know several smaller lakes that are very suitable for fishing this way. In that case you need to take with you your own waders; I’ll have some spare flippers and a belly boat available. This option is perfect also for fly fishermen !!
If it is just you who wants to fish there’s always lots to see for your non-fishing partner. Experience the silence, the beauty of the surrounding and wildlife. Don’t forget your camera and be prepared for the unexpected. This area still has its wild side. And the early mornings or late night skies are always breathtaking
If you have nearly no experience with fishing we can also fish from the banks of the lakes or rivers. This is the way to learn something about the type of rods and ways to fish, where to find the fish, how to handle the fish and unhook them. And it can help you to be successful during the rest of your stay in Sweden. We will mainly focus on the average fishing in areas like this. So it will be fishing with longer fishing poles for roach, bream, ide and perch. But if you want to learn a more active way of fishing for predatory fish like pike and bigger perch we will take some spinning rods with us.
Equipment
No need to worry about the equipment. I have a fine selection of rods that range from light tackle for perch and ide to average tackle for pike and even heavy duty stuff for the big mama’s as we call the big female pikes. Of course you can always take your own gear if that feels comfortable to you.
The boat is quite a stable aluminum Motocraft 470 Angler with a casting deck, suitable for a boatsman and two quests. The boat has a reliable Honda motor and an electric Minn Kota trolling motor for a more stealthy approach in the little bays. Of course I use a Garmin Fishfinder to be sure that we will at least find the fish.
